I know Yoga is a go, but there are certian types to do…they make special Pregnancy Yoga videos and classes, the main thing is to use positions where you can keep balance and also positions that wont enable air to be pushed inside the vagina which can cause a placental abruption, check out info on “pregnancy yoga” or see if you’re local studio or even the hospital where you are going to have you’re baby offers a program!
Unless your doctor/midwife has told you not to… heck yeah!
I did yoga through my second pregnancy and it was terrific. You aren’t supposed to do inversions when pregnant and don’t lie on your back if it makes you dizzy or lightheaded…
Exercise is good for you all the time, even when pregnant. I think belly dancing would be great, since the movement is so focused in the torso and it is easy to get disconnected from that part of your body as it gets bigger and more alien.. Staying in touch with might help with delivery, I think.
The hormones make your joints open up and loosen, so be careful with throwing yourself around and your center of balance will change, too, so be aware of that, too.
yes i believe you can…
i attended a seminar about belly dancing and apparently it stemmed from fertility and pregnancy celebrations..
it will probably help you during labor, as well.
also, there are modified exercises for yoga for pregnant women. It should be hard to find info about this online.
good luck.
As long as you’re not high risk and it’s something you’ve been doing pre preg, I think it’s ok. I was directing a musical and my choreographer wanted one more tapper for a song so I stepped in. I was 20 wks at the time. My dr said since it wasn’t something new for me that it was ok. I hadn’t tapped in a year, but had 15 yrs of tap experience.
My mom was due with my sister on July 5th and was belly dancing on July 4th at a show at our city’s 4th of July bash. I’d say at 23 wks you’re fine! Have fun!
Yoga is actually recommended. It helps supple you up and improves your stamina, giving you a higher chance of an easier, quicker birth. Make sure it is Ante-natal Yoga though as some part are unsafe.
I don’t know about belly dancing, ask your midwife.
There are awesome yoga dvds made for pregnancy work outs (I’m sure the same is true for belly dancing, I just don’t know of them!) I do pilates, and I’ve continued to do it through my entire pregnancy. It’s so good for you to remain active!
As long as you speak to your yoga instructor about any moves you should avoid, it should be fine. Lots of women say doing yoga helped keep them supple during pregnancy and so they managed to cope with labour better.
There are some good DVD’s for that sort of work-out with specific moves that are safe for pregnancy. I think belly dancing would be great during pregnancy, considering how strong it makes your back!
if it was somethng that you was doing before you became pregnant then yes unless your having complications just knw your body and listen to it and do not over do it

yes, yoga is a very good soothing exercise for pregnant women. As for belly dancing, well that’s just dancing so there’s nothing wrong with that!
