For Bikram Yoga Do I Need To Buy A Skidless Yoga Mat?
Posted by: | Comments
I’m noticing skidless mats and skidless towels sold on the internet - I guess they’re similar but not exactly the same. Please comment if you know alot about Bikram. I’m thinking of starting because a major Bikram studio is right across the street from where I live. In other words, I’m a true beginner, a total noob. Thanks.
Is It Dangerous To Do The Cabbage Soup Diet And Bikram Yoga At The Same Time?
Posted by: | Comments
Since I heard that most of what you lose in the cabbage soup diet is water weight and in bikram yoga you are sweating like a pig is it dangerous to do these two things at once?
PS: Do not tell me that i shouldn’t be doing the cabbage soup diet at all, I know you lose mostly water weight but I need the boost of thinking i have lost a bunch!

Feeling Hot Hot Hot - Bikram Yoga, A First Timer Writes

Bikram Yoga has been in vogue in recent years. Pioneered in LA by loud talking, Rolls Royce driving, Speedo sporting Bikram Choudary, it is an intense series of 26 yoga postures performed in a hot room - up to 40 degrees.
It was therefore with some trepidation that I found myself slipping into my shorts, grabbing my two towels and bottle of water and heading into the yoga room. The room itself was big with mirrors all along one wall. Picking up a rubber yoga mat I took my place among the other acolytes. Soon enough I heard what sounded like a ship’s boiler roaring into life and the room started to get warm, then hot. Next news is that a very fit looking woman hoves into view with a Madonna-esque radio mic and let’s us know that we are about to begin.
After some introductions for the novices about taking it easy and drinking water when we needed it was time for the off. In this case a breathing exercise. This completed I was puffing like the Flying Scotsman and redder than Dennis Healey. I was also sweating up a storm. After breathing it was straight into Half Moon. You would be amazed at how difficult it is standing with your arms above your head or on one leg for over a minute. The people around me were also bending sideways like bendy pink bananas.
